This study explores the Shari'ah-based criteria for the transfer of power and the assignment of government positions, examining the historical context and contemporary applications of these principles. Islamic governance, as outlined in the Qur'an and Sunnah, provides clear guidelines for the selection and transfer of leadership, emphasizing justice, competence, accountability, and public welfare. The research aims to delve into the historical examples of power transitions within early Islamic history, particularly focusing on the leadership styles during the caliphates and their adherence to Shari'ah principles. By reviewing the political mechanisms used in early Islamic states, the study offers insights into how power was transferred through consultation (Shura), the role of merit, and the protection of the community’s welfare. The study also examines how these principles can be applied in modern governance systems to address contemporary challenges such as corruption, political instability, and leadership crises. This research adopts a comparative approach, contrasting the Islamic model of power transfer with modern political systems to propose actionable frameworks for ensuring transparent and just leadership transitions in the contemporary world. The findings aim to provide valuable guidance for policymakers, scholars, and political leaders in applying Shari'ah criteria to ensure fairness and stability in governmental processes.
