This paper investigates the potential for halal meat production and export in Pakistan, aiming to promote the industry and encourage further research in this area. The study utilized both primary and secondary data, including time-series data on meat production and exports from 1994-1995 to 2015-2016, and insights from livestock experts regarding halal meat production across different provinces. Findings reveal that during this period, meat production grew at an annual average rate of 3%, while exports increased by 32% per year. Projections suggest that by 2029-2030, Pakistan’s total meat production and export could reach 6,078 thousand tons and $17,477 million, respectively. Expert assessments indicate that Balochistan holds a comparative advantage in rare livestock for beef and mutton production, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab show potential for chicken production, and Sindh demonstrates nearly equal efficiency in beef and chicken production. Recommendations include introducing high-yield livestock breeds, implementing comprehensive training programs for all stakeholders, and promoting registered and corporate livestock farming to meet international standards. This study highlights the strategic importance of halal meat exports, presenting opportunities to enhance national income and strengthen Pakistan’s balance of payments.Downloads
