Abstract

The Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ are the source of Islamic thought. The Holy Qur'an is the word of Allah Almighty, in which tradition is spoken in such a way that a historical continuity is seen in it. There is a mention of the innovation obtained through research and effort. It is also found in the verses of the Holy Qur'an in which wisdom and conquest are discussed. Western intellectuals talked about modernity and post-modernity, which means rationalism. That is, accepting everything on the basis of reason. If any concept, belief, theory, opinion and action does not come within the scope of reason, it should be rejected, whether it is related to faith or religion. In this paper, tradition, innovation and modernity have been described in the context of Islamic and Western thought.
